The English department at Lahser welcomes students of all academic abilities and learning styles to a challenging four years of reading, writing, vocabulary development, language study, and oral communication. The ten teachers in our department work together to provide a systematic program of development in the language arts designed to insure students are prepared for the challenges awaiting them after graduation.

We pride ourselves in our honors program that includes enriching courses like Humanities, British Literature, and Advanced Placement English, but we also recognize that many students learn best in a traditionally-paced program offering a steady progression of instruction designed to develop skills and build confidence. We are proud of our fine creative writing course and film study courses that allow students to follow their creative instincts.
Our award-winning school literary magazine features the work of students from all grades. We assist students in making their course choices and welcome their input in the placement process and encourage them to challenge themselves in every endeavor. We especially enjoy hearing from our alumni, who visit us after graduation and share their successes in academic, professional and personal lives.
