The Lahser band went to Washington D.C
.
The Lahser Marching Knights represented Michigan in the National Memorial Day parade in Washington D.C. Photos to come!

Additionally they will be attending concert performances of the Unites States Marine Band at the Annex, a live broadcast of the National Symphony Orchestra from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, and the United States Navy Band at the Navy Memorial.

The band was selected through and invitation and jury audition process and will be one of many bands from across the United States so honored this year. This is the first time a band from Bloomfield Hills Schools will be participating in this historic event.

Uniform Code:
  • Under Uniform:
    Black Socks
    MB Shirt
    Athletic Shorts (no jeans)
  • Hat Protocol:
    All hair must be up in the hat. (Ladies please plan accordingly) No dangly earrings.
  • Standards:
    Students will wear the entire uniform. Do not exit the school without your uniform zipped and buttoned. Your hat must be on your head as you exit the building.
    Students will not eat in uniform. Members will not visit the concession stand during the game. Water will be provided after Pre-Game. Snacks and drinks will be provided after halftime.


In the Stands:

    While in the stands students will sit with their sections. We are a vital part to the success
    of the team! We will be playing after every time-out and quarter change.
    All Rah-Rah music must be brought to the field and should be memorized.

Concert Band
Concert Band is a performing ensemble that explores a wide variety of music on the intermediate level. Technical development is stressed. During the fall season, students in Concert Band combine with Symphonic Band personnel to form the Lahser Marching Band. Performances include, but are not limited to, three seasonal concerts, a pre-festival performance, and band festival. In addition, recital and solo/ensemble opportunities are made available to all students.
Symphonic Band
Symphonic Band is a select performing ensemble that explores the most advanced level of musical repertoire. This ensemble is designed for the musically mature and proficient student who demonstrates advanced playing skills and displays an intense interest in technical challenges. Principal chair players are expected to perform in the Symphony Orchestra. In addition, all students are required to participate in solo/ensemble festival and the pre-festival practice recital. Performances include, but are not limited to, three seasonal concerts, a pre-festival performance, and band festival. During the fall season, students in Symphonic Band combine with Concert Band personnel to form the Lahser Marching Band. .

Jazz Band
Jazz Band is open, by audition, to any student enrolled in either Concert or Symphonic Band. This is an advanced performing ensemble by nature and offers tremendous opportunities for student musicians to excel in technique, grow in rhythm reading ability, and expand range. Instrumentation includes saxophone, flute, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass, auxiliary percussion, and drum set. Various idioms of jazz are explored, (i.e., blues, swing, Latin, funk, rock, ballads, etc.). Jazz Band meets 8th hour on Mondays and Thursdays. The band performs at concerts, dances, festivals, and community service activities.
