General Things to Do
Make a huge scoreboard to keep track of all events throughout
Points
Point values for events are as follows:
• First: 60 points
• Second: 50 points
• Third: 40 points
• Fourth: 30 points
• Fifth: 20 points
• Sixth: 10 points
• Below: 0 points
If there is a tie, the points for those two places will be added and divided by tied number of tied teams.
Team with highest cumulative points will become Olympic Champions
Sudoku - Tuesday, April 17 (During Seminar in Lupone’s Room)
• Choose a puzzle to use (everyone will have the same one)
• Ask Lupone if we can use her room during Seminar to do the competition
Rules:
• Participants have 20 minutes to complete the puzzle
• The fastest to finish it correctly gets first, second fastest second, etc.
• If participants do not finish in the 20 minutes their team will receive no points for this event.
• Each team will have one representative complete the puzzle.
• Participants may not talk to each other during the contest.
Pin the Sword on the Knight - Tuesday April, 17 (During Seminar in Byrd’s Room)
• Finish making the Knight/Sword
• Cut it out
• Mount it onto black foam core
• Buy foam core
• Ask Mrs. Byrd if we can use her room for this competition during Seminar
• Bring in blindfold
Rules:
• The points will be awarded based on who is closest to the actual spot
• This will be judged by measuring in centimeters.
• Participants will be blindfolded (with an actual sleeping mask)
• Participants will be spun around ten times
Quiz Bowl - Tuesday, April 17 (Planisek’s Room)
• Ask Ms. Planisek if we can use her room during Seminar.
• Ask if we can borrow Quiz Bowl buzzers
• Get a “host”
• Get three judges (two students, one teacher)
Come up with questions/categories (probably 3 sets…)
• 5 categories
• 5 questions per category
• Make board - Two sheets per question, use push pin wall
Rules:
• Two students per team may participate
• Judges will determine whether or not the answer given is correct
• Any arguing with the judges will result in immediate disqualification
• If a team attempts a question and gets it wrong, the question is open for other teams
• If two rounds, top six teams will compete in second round for final points
Ping Pong Thursday April 19 (After School, Fieldhouse)
• Get a date to hold this in the gym
• Get four “refs”
• Make scoreboards
• Ask the Ping Pong Club about tables and equipment (Mr. Woodberg)
• Need tables, paddles, balls
• Make a bracket set up for all of the teams
• Draw randomly
• Make a poster of the brackets and fill in as we go through it
Rules:
• There will be one participant per team in this event
• A coin toss will determine who serves first for each game.
• Serves do not have to bounce on your own side first
• If the other person’s shot is going out but you touch it, it’s the other team’s point.
• Games will be rally-scored
• Games will be played for 5 minutes in preliminary rounds.
• Final three games (6thv5th, 4thv3rd, 2ndv1st) will be 8 minutes
• If there’s a tie at the end of the time, next point wins. (Coin toss determines serve)
• Any arguing with the ref’s calls will result in immediate disqualification
Guitar Hero
• Ask Ms. Greenlee when we can use Auditorium (or we can use gym classroom)
• Find a place and time to do this event (after school)
• Get game, system, and TV to use
• Make a scoreboard
• Get a supervisor
Rules:
• One person per team will participate.
• Scores will be recorded in individual game, and highest point-getters win.
• Any arguing with judge/points will result in immediate disqualification.
All-Star Basketball Challenge - Thursday, April 19 (After School, Fieldhouse)
• Get a day in gym to do this event.
• Ask gym teachers for basketballs to use.
• Decide how it will be designed
• How many spots (number them)
• Where will they be
• Mark the spots on the court
• Make a scoreboard
• Get a judge/ref
Rules:
• Two people per team will participate (one shoots, one rebounds/passes)
• The team with the fastest time (making all the shots) will win.
• If it takes more than 7 minutes, that team will be disqualified
• If a team shoots from any other spot beside the one marked, that shot will not count.
• Judge/ref will enforce whether or not shot counts.
• Any arguing with the ref will result in immediate disqualification.
• Participants will follow the number order on the spots (must follow this order)
Change Diving - Wednesday, April 18 (After School, Pool)
• Decide on a pool time (not Saturday from 10am-3pm)
• Get the dimes, nickels, and pennies to put in the pool (put one silver dollar…)
• Get a lifeguard
• Get an adult judge
Rules:
• One person per team can participate
• Teams will go a couple at a time.
• Change will be in deep end of the pool.
• Participants must dive down and grab as much change as possible without coming up for air.
• The team with the most change in however long they can hold their breath wins.
• Judges will count the money (cent values included)
• No goggles allowed.
• Any arguing with the judge will result in immediate disqualification.
Scavenger Hunt - Monday, April 23 (After School, meet in Café)
Think of locations and clues
• 8 locations/clues
• Have people start at different clues (ask Planisek)
Pick a day to do this after school
• Make sure all the locations will be open during that time
Make “rings” for them to find (6)
• Make a sign that says only to take ONE!
Rules:
• Two people per team will participate
• Any cheating will result in immediate disqualification (aka hiding clues, etc)
• Team first to get final ring wins, second gets second, etc.
• Any arguing with the supervisors will result in immediate disqualification.
Eating Contest - Friday, April 20 After School (Courtyard by Main Entrance)
• Decide on food (something clean, easy to count)
• Get cups/water bottles
• Get buckets just in case…
• Get judges (as many as there are people)
• Pick/location a day after school to do this
Rules:
• One person per team participates.
• The person who eats the most (full) food item in 5 minutes wins
• Judges will determine what counts and will count the number eaten (while people are eating)
• Throwing up during the 5 minutes will result in disqualification
• All participants will get two cups of water to use
• All food must be completely swallowed to count.
• Any arguing with the supervisors will result in immediate disqualification.
Marathon Obstacle Course - Wednesday, April 25 (location/time TBA)
• Get field/location for this event.
vMake a banner to run through
• Determine different obstacles
• >5 obstacles (1 of which is a mental test)
• Ask for all necessary equipment
• Get a judge for every obstacle (5 judges)
Rules:
• One person per team will participate
• Judges will determine if obstacle is completed (if not, it must be re-done)
• Fastest to complete it wins.
• Make more rules to do with obstacles….
• Any arguing with the supervisors will result in immediate disqualification. |
