BHS seniors nominated as Presidential Scholars One student from each of Bloomfield Hills Schools’ three comprehensive high schools has been named as a candidate in the 2008 president Scholars Program by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and the U.S. Department of Education. Lahser High School senior Erika L. Mayer of Bloomfield Township, Andover High School senior Zachary F. Wyzgoski of Bloomfield Township, and International Academy senior Clara Yoon of West Bloomfield were chosen on the basis of their accomplishments in many areas – academic and artistic success, leadership, and involvement in school and the community. According to the department of education, they represent excellence in education and the promise of greatness in America’s youth. Students who are selected as Scholars will travel to Washington, D.C. in June to participate in national Recognition Week, which includes enrichment activities and events and culminates with a presentation to the students of the Presidential Scholars medallion during a ceremony sponsored by the White House. Bloomfield Hills Schools inspires children with academic, athletic, fine arts and co-curricular opportunities. Students access many learning choices including 26 high school Advanced Placement classes, seven world languages, and interactive technology in every classroom. Enrollment is open to residents, and non-residents at competitive tuition rates. Congratulations to all three outstanding students!
