The Scholastic Art Award Tradition

Launched in 1923, the Scholastic Art Awards program is the largest and
longest-running recognition program for young people in the United States. It is
conducted by Scholastic Magazine, Inc. and the Alliance for Young Artists and
Writers, Inc., with the cooperation of public-spirited sponsors at the regional
and national level. At the Regional Level, traditional and digital student
art works are submitted in a variety of fine art/design categories and juried
by an independent team of university art professors and professional
artists/designers with recognized expertise in their fields. The most outstanding
student art works are awarded the highest award, Gold Key, followed by Silver Key
and Certificate of Merit. The Gold Key winning art works from the Regional
Level are sent to New York City in the spring for additional awards and honors in
the National High School Art Exhibition.
