Mr. Charlie Hollerith is currently in his fourth year as Principal of Lahser High School. Born and raised in New York City, Mr. Hollerith attended Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin where he gained his Bachelors degree in History and also his Masters of Arts in Teaching.  He taught social studies and coached both boys and girls soccer at Hononegah High School in Rockton, Illinois from 1986 until 1999. He gained his Certificate of Advanced Studies from National Louis University in Educational Administration and served as Assistant Principal at Hononegah High School for one year from 1999-2000. In 2000, he became Associate Principal for Curriculum and Instruction at Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois. In 2003, he was named Principal at Harlem. Mr. Hollerith served the past two years as Principal at Harlem before coming to Lahser.

Mr. Hollerith’s professional work included working with the Illinois Alliance of Essential Schools, a statewide and national school reform model. In 2004, he was appointed to serve as Chairman of the U.S. Department of Education’s Midwest Regional Advisory Committee. His other professional memberships include state and national affiliations with North Central Association, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Mr. Hollerith’s previous civic activities included being a member of the Winnebago County Board and the New American Theatre board of directors.

Hobbies and interests include golf and fishing along with visiting family in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Mr. Hollerith is married (Tracy) and has one daughter (Lily).

He resides in the district and looks forward to working with students and parents to continue the tradition of excellence at Lahser.
