Typical Freshman Schedule and Points to Ponder


Generally, freshmen will need to take the following courses:
1.0 credit in EnglishWriting/Literature I, Honors English 9, Reading I & II *(Students will be recommended by teachers for the Reading I & II class)
1.0 credit in World Studies
1.0 credit in Mathematics-As recommended by your middle school math teacher
1.0 credit in Biology(Some students will be recommended by teachers for General Biology)
.5 credit in Health and .5 credit in Physical Education
2.0 credits in electives,As determined by student

ITEMS TO CONSIDER ABOUT COLLEGES

  1. Most colleges prefer students to carry at least four academic classes per semester.

  2. Students need to maintain or continually improve their grade point average over each semester.

  3. Remember that most colleges re-compute academic grade point averages.

  4. Even though we do not weight honors and advanced placement classes, many colleges give these courses additional consideration when re-computing academic grade point average.

  5. World language may be a requirement for admission. Some colleges are now requiring a minimum of two years of a world language years of one language.

  6. Remember that Lahser’s graduation requirements are minimal. Many colleges would prefer to see:


4 credits in english
3-4 credits in both math and science
3 credits in social studies
2 credits in world language
