ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO DO A MINIMUM OF 40 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE TO GRADUATE.

Students Have Two Options for the Required Community Service:

  1. Complete 40 hours of service without credit.
This service time can be completed evenings, weekends, and during vacations (including summer).
  2. Complete 100 hours of service for 1/2 credit.
This service may be completed during the school day or as agreed upon by the agency and school. It is possible to receive up to 3 full credits on a student's transcript for community service, corresponding to 600 hours of service. Placements for service beyond the first 1/2 credit must be within significantly different areas or be upgraded experiences for the student.

In Addition to Completing Service, the Student Must:

  • Have an Agreement signed by the student, a parent or guardian, and the agency supervisor. The agreement must be turned in before the student begins his or her service.
  • Have an Agency Evaluation filled out by whoever directly supervised the student. Paperwork is available outside the Community Service Office, just to the right of the door.
  • Fill out a Student Evaluation of his or her experience. Paperwork is available outside the Community Service Office, just to the right of the door.
  • Complete a Reflection Essay of 500 words minimum. Guidelines are available outside the Community Service Office, just to the right of the door.
  • Attend a Lunch Meeting with Mrs. Gibbs. Meetings are posted on the Community Service Office Door and are available both First and Second Lunches.
  • Make sure a Record of Hours is kept and turned into the office. Time-keeping sheets are available outside the Community Service Office, just to the right of the door.
